A stunning landscape of parkland, lakes and ponds is the backdrop for a collection of more than 7,000 trees from around the world, close by to Castle Howard.
Wander off to explore peaceful hidden glades and meadows, let the children go wild, and enjoy the very best in seasonal, home-cooked food in the café. A new attraction, the Red Squirrel Enclosure is now open. There is no extra charge to visit the enclosure, but booking is essential. There is a small breeding group of native Red Squirrels Sciurus vulgaris, maintaining a captive population for future reintroductions, and enabling the story to be told of a native mammal lost from most of our woodland. Visit https://www.yorkshirearboretum.org/ to learn more about this beautiful place to visit, less than 30 minutes from the campsite. Add to your list of days out in North Yorkshire during your stay. Dogs are welcome too but not in the squirrel enclosure.
